Unity Parenting and Counseling, Inc. is a private-non-profit organization providing a range of services in the areas of foster care, foster care placement, adoptions, adoption home studies, HIV prevention, parenting training, in-home parenting coaching, counseling, trauma management mental health, housing for homeless youth and families, and permanent housing for the disabled.

Unity's mission is to provide the residents of our community strong support, community advocacy and holistic services designed to nurture and strengthen the inner person to promote self-efficacy and family empowerment.

Our History
Unity Parenting and Counseling, Inc. is a community-based, not-for-profit, social services agency created in the fall of 1983. From 1983 to 1997, Unity managed a transitional shelter for homeless, indigent, 18 to 21 year old males. During this period Unity helped residents achieve independence and stability. In 1989 Unity launched its Parenting and Counseling Center in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. We are a licensed Illinois Child Welfare Agency and were accredited by the Counsel on Accreditation of Children and Family Services in July 2000 and again in May 2004.
