Unity Board of Directors provides oversight, guidance, and support to the agency. Board members are all selected for the special strengths and skills that they bring to the agency as well as for their concern and commitment to the community. Members of the Unity Board of Directors run the gamut of professional backgrounds and social service recipients. Unity regularly recruits new Board members to assure that Board oversight represents a range of perspectives.
Unity Board of Directors is an active Board, dedicated to guiding policy creation, supporting agency administration, and leading fund-raising efforts. The Board committee structure allows Board members to contribute to the agency components in which they are most interested i.e. Program, Finance, Fundraising, etc.
Katie Milton
President/Chief Executive Officer
Katie Milton is a native of Chicago who has been serving the community for years. She has a wide range of administrative experience in the field of public service. In 1983, Ms. Milton founded a homeless shelter for men between the ages of 18 and 21. In 1989 she became the President/CEO of Unity Parenting & Counseling, Inc., a child welfare agency. Ms. Milton has broad experience in fundraising, community networking, fiscal management, board development, and program administration. She has served on many boards and committees for various social service agencies and committees citywide. Her efforts continue as she advocates for human rights, social and economic justice for all.
